Where Cinema Meets the Desert
In the heart of the Tunisian desert, the original Star Wars sets from Episodes I and IV await you among endless dunes and an otherworldly silence.
Tunisia has been one of the main filming locations for the Star Wars saga, especially Episodes I (The Phantom Menace) and IV (A New Hope). The desert around Tozeur became Tatooine itself, Luke Skywalker’s home planet.
Just half an hour from The Mora, the Ong Jemel desert is where George Lucas filmed the legendary scenes of Tatooine. Between wind, sun, and sand, the Mos Espa film set still stands, as if the Jedi might appear at any moment.
We recommend visiting early in the morning or at sunset: the desert’s golden light is magical, and temperatures are milder.
