Nice stay with a few points which need improvement Everything was very clean and comfortable, housekeeping came 2-3 times a day. The resort is located in a wonderful surrounding. Food was okay but not extraordinary as I would have expected for a 5 star resort. Too many drinks on the menu were with extra charge. That was not all incl. as I know it from other resorts. Staff was not outstandingly friendly but their service was satisfactory Hardly any music entertainment and fun in the evening as I know from other places - that was a bit disappointing. Fantastic family stay Just returned from a 10 night stay at The Mora, Zanzibar with nothing but good things to say. Fantastic service and a lovely experience from start to finish. The staff were extremely welcoming and friendly, creating a warm family- feel atmosphere. They took the time to learn our names and preferences (there was 11 of us in our group)- A big shout out to Captain Hussain for always making us smile! The gelato store and popcorn at the bar was a big hit with the kids (and adults)- the peanut butter ice cream was absolutely delicious. The buffet options at the Horizon were always varied with live cooking options too- there was always something for everyone. We did a Swahili cooking class with Chef Halima where we learnt how to make several dishes and then got to have a feast for lunch. Chef Halima was so much fun to work with, so patient and calm and had great sense of humour. The food was very tasty and so easy to recreate at home- the goody bag was a nice touch. Restaurants get booked quickly but Purni was able to accommodate our large group and get us a table to sit and eat together with a pre-order option too so we weren’t waiting long. Overall, the facilities were great, always clean and each and every member of staff we came across was fantastic. We really enjoyed our time at this hotel- thank you to all at The Mora.

Excellent Everything was 5 star except the wait staff. Although very pleasant, most have no training as to what’s expected at a resort of this high quality in terms of service. Waiting 10 minutes for water when asking immediately because of thirst or having to ask 3 times for juice. There is no sentence of urgency. The hospitality from all of the staff has been exceptional. Everyone is friendly, attentive and genuinely happy to help, always greeting you with a smile and a warm **“Jambo!” Everything here is pole pole” — slowly, slowly, which is exactly what you want when you’re in Zanzibar. There’s no rush, no stress — just time to relax, enjoy the surroundings and take in the atmosphere. The hotel has great food, great vibes and fantastic people. From the service to the atmosphere, everything has made our stay incredibly enjoyable. A special thank you to Captain Hussain and the entire team** for making us feel so welcome. Another unforgettable stay This was our second stay in two consecutive years, and it was every bit as special as we remembered from our first visit. Returning somewhere you loved the first time can come with very high expectations, but we were so happy to find the same warmth, comfort and wonderful service we remembered. From the moment we arrived, Clara and Adella gave us such a warm and enthusiastic welcome. We had requested interconnecting rooms although these weren't available on our first night, they worked hard to arrange them for us from the second night onwards. We really appreciated the effort they made to accommodate our family. The standard of housekeeping was excellent throughout our stay. Our rooms were always beautifully maintained, and a special thank you must go to Lucy, who looked after our evening turndown service so well. These small, consistent touches made our stay feel so comfortable. The food options are exceptional, with such a wide variety that there really is something for everyone. The desserts this time weren't quite as I remembered them from our previous stay howeverAshok Pandey, the F&B Manager, and his fantastic team of chefs went above and beyond to make a desert I requested for my family I honestly wasn't expecting that at all, and it was such a thoughtful and heart-warming gesture. A huge part of what made our stay so enjoyable was the wonderful restaurant team. Massive thankyou to Awadh who was incredibly efficient, attentive and always so pleasant to chat with. He seemed to notice what was needed before we even had to ask and looked after us so well throughout our stay. Dominic, Ally and Bilal Majid were equally warm and welcoming, always coming over to check on us and wish us a lovely dinner. Bilal, in particular, deserves a special mention at breakfast. He remembered my exact coffee order as well as my daughter's favourite juice without us needing to ask. That kind of personal attention made us feel truly looked after. What stands out most for us is the people. So many members of staff make a genuine effort to remember you, speak to you and make sure you are enjoying your stay. You never feel like you are simply another room number. We have now had two wonderful family holidays here and made so many happy memories. Thank you to everyone who looked after us so beautifully. We already can't wait for our third visit, hopefully very soon!
